DVD: "Encounters at the End of the World"

Werner Herzog explores Antarctica, its scientists, travel addicted eccentrics, and the weird creatures found beneath the ice. When he films penguins, it's not to show us how endearing they are, but to ask about their sexual peccadilloes and to question whether they ever go mad. The photography is compelling and the music intensifies the eeriness of the landscape.

My rating: **** (out of 5)
