The Southwest Food Festival

This week-end there's a festival of southwest food on the bank of the Seine near Notre Dame.  We'd enjoyed this festival in 2011 and decided to go again today.  The specialties of this region are duck products, prunes, and spice cake.  Of course they also produce a selection of cheeses.  For lunch, Bill had a cheese plate (a selection of about 4 cheeses plus bread).  I can't tell you what I had because I'm a bit ashamed (although apparently not ashamed enough to get a cheese sandwich instead).

Here's a photo of the swag we got - plums, apples, and garlic, as well as a piece of cheese which we bought and a croustade (phyllo dough with apples) which we bought to take home for dessert.  Later we checked out the hotel where my sister and her husband will be staying when they come next week.  The baguette we bought today won 9th place in the 2011 contest.

  1. I have 3 more hours of being on call, then 24 hours of being second call for my co-worker, one more 8-10 hour work day, and then I am finally free for 2 weeks. Can you tell I am anxious to be on vacation?
