Belleville

We spent today in gritty, working-class Belleville, in the eastern part of Paris.  First we visited the Quartier de la Mouzaïa, housing that was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for workers who could not afford the housing in Paris.  These charming homes are now highly desirable.

We stopped to take a look at the Russian Orthodox Church, Eglise Saint-Serge.  Unfortunately it was not open to visitors at the time we were there.

Where do you think we stopped for this afternoon snack?

If you answered "an expensive café on the Champs Elysées," you're wrong.  We got the macarons and Viennese hot chocolate at a McDonalds in Belleville.

Today's cheese:  None.  We have lots of small pieces that we're trying to use up.
